Welcome to Grade 5!

 Dear Students, Parents and Guardians,

Welcome back! We are very excited to kick off a brand new school year.  In order to have a fun filled year, we will all work together to create a safe learning environment. This will mean we will RESPECT one another and be RESPONSIBLE for our actions and our learning.

Agendas:
Please check your child’s agenda on a daily basis and initial to indicate that you have checked for notes.  Your child will list any assigned homework in their agendas.  Daily reading is always strongly encouraged.

Tests and Assignments:
All tests and assignments will be sent home. This is to provide you, the parent, with details of how your child is doing in school.  Please sign your child’s work and have them return it to school the next day.  We will keep a file of all assessed work in the classroom.  Assessment dates are indicated in advance and students have ample opportunity to study and prepare for all tests and quizzes.

Phys. Ed:
Please ensure that all students have a change of shoes to be worn during gym.  Flip flops and sandals are not considered proper footwear as they can be unsafe during some physical activity.

Indoor Shoes:
Students are required to bring a pair of indoor shoes to be kept at school so that mud and dirt from the yard is not brought into the classroom.  Shoes can be stored in a plastic bag that would hang from their hook.  It is recommended that students wear running shoes so that they can also be used during gym class.

Important Reminders!!!
·         It is the students’ responsibility to write their homework in their agenda daily and return it to school the following day signed by their parent(s) with their homework completed.
·         We are a peanut-free school.  No food with traces of peanuts is allowed.
·         Please be advised that all students must be lined up by the portable door ready for school entry at 8:55 a.m. and in our class ready to learn by 9:00 a.m.
·         School will end at 3:15 p.m. and all students are expected to leave the school grounds immediately after they exit the classroom.
Should you wish to contact me or have any questions or concerns please contact me at school before or after school hours (416) 394-2359.

We look forward to an exciting year!
